During each week of work, the higher the driver's miles, the higher the pay per mile based on the schedule shown.

Example for a driver with a 50 cent base:

Week 1:  2,600 miles pays 53 per mile

Week 2:  3,100 miles pays 55 per mile

Week 3:  1,900 miles pays 50 per mile

 Maintain a clean safety record and earn a bonus equal to 2.0% of your total driving earnings for the 6-month period.  Safe drivers earn between $1,000 and $1,600+ per year in safety bonuses. 

Detention:  $20.00 per hour after 2 hours

Extra Stops:  $25 per stop

Layover:  $85 per event

Breakdown:  $85 per event

34-hour Break on Road:  $100

Detention, extra stops and layovers are extremely rare at Armstrong.

Your effort and availability are the most important factors in how many miles you get.  If you are available and follow procedures, you will get strong, consistent miles.

We have a number of drivers that achieve 3,000+ miles just about every week.

 $1.28 per mile base plus bonus

Exceed 2,000 miles - $1.29 per mile

Exceed 2,250 miles - $1.30 per mile

Exceed 2,500 miles - $1.31 per mile

Plus fuel surcharge on all paid miles.

Scale shown continues up and down as shown in 6 cents increments.

From time to time, an owner-operator may run a shorter trip under 250 miles.  These trips pay a higher rate per load mile.

200 - 249 miles pays $1.30

150 - 199 miles pays $1.33

100 - 149 miles pays $1.36

50 - 99 miles pay $1.40

1 - 49 miles $1.45

Maintain a clean safety record and earn a bonus of 1 cent per mile for all paid miles during the bonus period.  Safe owner-operators can earn an extra $1,000 to $1,600  or more per year in safety bonuses. 

Detention:  $25 per hour after 2 hours

Extra Stops:  $25 per stop

Layover:  $125 per event

34-hour Break on the Road:  $100

Detention, layovers and extra stops are not common occurrences, but when they do happen, we'll always make sure you are compensated fairly.

In addition to the normal pay structure, drivers that take a 34-hour restart on the road earn an extra $100 for each 34-hour break taken away from home.

The $100 pay also applies in the rare situation that a driver who planned to be home for the weekend was unable to make it home in time.

   We know every driver has a few favorite runs.  We'll take the time to learn how you like to run and do our best to keep you on your preferred routes as often as possible.

We never force dispatch owner-operators.  At the same time, because of the quality of our freight, it's very rare that an owner-operator refuses a load.  We take the time to know which runs our drivers prefer and do our best to keep all drivers on their preferred runs as often as possible.

Steady Job History 

We ask every owner-operator to fund a $1,000 escrow account for contingencies.  The account is usually funded with a $100 per week deduction over the first 10 weeks of work.
